A reason not to commit suicide

There might be advances in medical technology to prolong lifespan or reverse aging.

There might be a technological singularity which will increase living conditions and prolong lifespan indefinitely.

The technological singularity is the idea that once artificial intelligence gets smart enough, technological improvements will occur at a massively fast scale to the extent almost anything physically possible, can be done. living forever, changing personalities. plastic surgery would be utterly simple.

A lot of really smart people (Ray Kurzweil, Elizer Yudowosky google them!) believe in it. Sounds too good to be true, but it sort of makes sense. Intelligence is so powerful - and once we work out 'how' it works, building a machine smart enough should be possible...and then that machine can improve itself, and again, and again and again. And amazingly, the vast majority of AI theorists predict this shit will occur WITHIN our lifetimes - even discounting medical advances taking place in the next 70 years.
